In the last years, human-based in vitro models have risen up as crucial for drug screening and development. Additionally, the FDA is increasingly encouraging the use of human-based in vitro models to supplement and, in some cases, replace animal testing. These models include complex systems like organoids and organ-on-a-chip systems, which mimic human organs to test safety and efficacy more accurately than traditional methods. This course aims to give an overview on the wide world of 3D in vitro models, with a particular focus on their possible applications in the pre-clinical phases of drug development chain.
